Liebster Award: Discovering New Blogs

I am just tickled that Amanda at the Teacher at the Wheel blog nominated me for a Liebster Award!  I started this blog just a little over a month ago with the intent of sharing ideas with other teachers.  What I wasn't prepared for was the amazing blog community amongst educators and all of the support and encouragement I've been receiving.  Thank you to all of my followers! My goal was to reach 50 followers by the end of the summer and I am simply floored that I've reached the big 100!!!

Here are my "rules" for accepting this nomination:

1. Link back to the blog that nominated me
2. Nominate 5-11 blogs with fewer than 200 followers
3. Answer the questions posted for you by your nominator
4. Share 11 random facts about yourself
5. Create 11 questions for your nominees
6. Contact your nominees and let them know you nominated them

My nominations:

Questions Amanda asked me:
1. What's your favorite subject to teach and why?
I love to teach reading! One of my favorite things to observe are the conversations about literature we have in class and how they become deeper and more reflective as the year goes on!
2. Tell me about your pets...
I am the proud owner of the most backwards black lab I have ever met! He is absolutely terrified of water, but LOVES fireworks! He's pathetic, but I love him!
3. What is something that college did NOT teach you that you wish it had?
I wish college had better prepared me for the short 30 minute lunches! The days of hour long lunch/nap sessions are long gone!
4. If you could make any unhealthy food super super healthy, what would it be?
Easy....ice cream!!!!
5. If you were bitten by a radioactive spider, what super power do you hope to get?
I never really thought about it...maybe the ability to fly?
6. Tell me about a memorable student that you taught?
She wasn't a student, but a camper from my days working at a day camp...Livvy-Lou! She was/is the sweetest thing as well as being a major sassy-pants! I miss the care-free days of day camp where it was all about keeping the kids safe and happy in the sun!
7. What are your favorite movies?
My favorite classic film is Wizard of Oz, my favorite awesomely bad 80's move is Teen Witch and my favorite chick flick is a tie between While You Were Sleeping and Pretty Woman!
8. To where would you like an all-expense paid vacation?
Uhh...Ireland and Scotland please! Should I pack now??
9. What's the last thing you said?
"Yea." Exciting, right?!?
10. What's something you would like to change about education in our country?
I would love for our country to reinforce the importance of early childhood education by making it a requirement.
11. What are some of your favorite blogs to read?
